KILLED BY A SWITCH ENGINE.
Pulled Aside by a Watchman, but Stepped Back.
[Special to The Indianapolis News.]
MUNCIE, Ind., June 18.—Samuel Liggett, eighty-five years old, a pioneer resident of Madison, where he had resided for fifty years, was instantly killed by a Big Four switch engine, this morning, as he was walking on the track. The watchman saw the engine approaching and pulled the old man from the track once, but Liggett did not see the train, and evidently misinterpreted the action of the watchman, for he stepped back and was struck. He had been visiting his daughter, Mrs. Harry Lyons, for several weeks.
