BLACKWATERTOWN
Is a small post and fair town on the banks of the Blackwater; it is in the county of Armagh, with a small portion in Tyrone on the other side of the river, which separates the two counties; this part of the town is known as by the name of Clonfecle, and in it stands the Catholic chapel. Blackwatertown in 69 miles north by west from Dublin, two south of Charlemont, four north west of Armagh, seven south of Dungannon, 19 north west of Newry, and 31 south west of Belfast. The parish church is at Benburb, about one mile distant; the Rev. James Wilson, D. D. the present rector is also rector of Moy. At the upper end of the town is an extensive bleach green, belonging to Messrs. Jackson, Eyre & Co. at present not in work. No market is held here, but there is a fair on the second Wednesday in every month. Population about 250.
POST OFFICE – Post Master, Mr. William Walker. The Dublin mail is despatched at twenty minutes past four in the afternoon, and arrives at twenty minutes past nine in the morning. A by-mail leaves at the same time for Moy, Dungannon and Armagh. Letters for England go by the Dublin mail, and those for Scotland by Donaghadee.

COACH
No coach passes through this town. The Royal Mail passes through Charlemont, (distant two miles) from Dublin to Dungannon, at nine in the morning, and from Dungannon to Dublin, at five in the afternoon.
CONVEYANCE BY WATER
Goods are conveyed by the Blackwater river to Lough Neagh at Mahghrey, and thence to Newry and Belfast by the canals.
Cars may be hired for the carriage of Goods to any other part of the kingdom.
