McFarland age 93 of Highland, IN passed away November 4, 2013. She was director of the Visiting Nurse Association and was instrumental in bringing Meals on Wheels to northwest Indiana. Norah was also board member and past president of The Lake County Mental Health Association, past board member of Tri City Mental Health, and past president of Meals on Wheels in NWI. The Indiana Association of Home Care created an award, which is given annually for leadership, community service and home health care needs. Norah was the award’s first recipient of that Norah J. McFarland award. She was a member of The First Presbyterian Church of Highland, Visiting Nurse Association Foundation, PEO, Altrusa Club, Munster Garden Club. She is survived two daughters Mary Purchase of Dowling, MI; Susan (Dave) Moore of Valparaiso, IN, two grandchildren Elizabeth Lipscomb of Battle Creek, MI; Brandon Muha of Valparaiso, IN; one niece Alice (William) Collins of Maryland. Memorial services will be held Saturday November 9, 2013 at 11 AM at The First Presbyterian Church of Highland, Dr. Rev. Laura Reason officiating.
