  	Both Christen and Ingerd were born in Modum. The 1865 census of Modum parish shows their farm or villiage in Thon was named Holmene, and it was in the Rudsfjerdingens District of Heggen Parish, in the clerical parish of Modum. The marriage records for Christen Olson and Andrine Olsdotter lists Christen as a 25 year old bachelor (ungkarl) and a miner (grubearbeider), coming from Kaggestad. Andrine is listed asa 28 year old from Pitterichian. The marriage was in Heggen Parish, which is under the head parish of Modum. Witnesses were Ole Gutterssen (?) and Lage Hansen from Heggenrin. All five of their children were born in Heggen Parish, but on different farms or villages, until settling in Thon around 1846. Later, their eldest son, Johan, seems to have taken over Thonby and raised his family there until immigrating to the U.S. in 1884. The grandchildren seem to have born in various places like Modum (Johan's), Konnerud (Maren's), and Ringerike, Drammen, Haversund, Finsrud, and Gulbransdallen, all around the OSLO region. When Christen and Andrine's children immigrated to the U.S., they broke with the last-name tradition of taking the first name of their father with "son" or "dotter" added on, mostly taking a "place" name of HOLMEN. Christen probably had a sister named Ingeborg.
