Notes |
Married:
- According to family lore, the McDevitt's were one of two Catholic families living in the Protestant area of Kilceen in County Tryone (the Armstrong's being the other). It is certain that four sisters came to the U.S.: Mary, Maggie, Ellen, and Kate. It is strongly believed that their brother Edward also came to the U.S., as his name appears as witnesses to marriages. Family lore says another brother also came, thinking that the street were paved with gold. When he found out he had to work, he returned to Europe, possibly to Glascoe, Scotland.
