Jan 7 1853 [Died] An inquest was held on Monday last, before Minchin Lloyd, Esq., Coroner, on the body of an infant child, named James Walker, whose parents reside in Foyle Street, in this City. It appears from the evidence of the child's father, that its mother, Rebecca Walker, was addicted to drink, and on several occasions, had seriously injured the deceased. On Friday last he observed the child's arm swollen, and on examination, by Dr. Corbett it was found to be broken, together with a variety of wounds and bruises on various parts of the body. Doctor Corbett attended the child but he eventually died on Sunday evening at four o'clock. With the verdict, the mother has been confined for three months to the Lunatic Asylum, after having been found guilty of the crime, whilst under the influence of drink
