The Church was described in the Ordnance Survey of Clondermot Parish (1835) as; The church is about one mile from Derry, on the Dungiven Road. It’s site is conspicuous, being on the brow of the Clondermot Hill. It is a plain substantial building and was erected in 1753 at an expense of 500 pounds; the belfry which was erected in 1789 cost 280 pounds. A wooden spire covered with copper was erected in 1794, but blown away by a storm in November 1831. The pews are numerous and commodious, and the addition of a gallery is in contemplation. There is accommodation for 330 persons.
The condition of the original records, a great degree of difficulty in discerning the handwriting and the quality of filming make transcription challenging and wherever possible the Clondermot Tithe Applotment Book (1834) Index to the Tithe Applotment Book, Clondermot Parish, Co. Londonderry 1834 (cotyroneireland.com) and Griffiths Valuation (1858) Griffith's Valuation (askaboutireland.ie) have been consulted in an attempt to confirm families and townland addresses.
