My brick wall are my ancestors John Johnston and his wife Belle (Arabella, Isabella) Rainey. I have the record of the baptism of their daughter Sally (Sarah) at the Stewartstown 1st Presbyterian Church in 1818/19. John and Belle were living at Dernagh at the time.

I have been unable to find any record of a marriage of John and Belle, nor a baptism for either of them.

John was a bailiff for William Blacker who was the land agent for the Commissioners of Endowed Schools of Dungannon. John attempted to build a house in Derrytresk in 1842 but ran into problems with the locals who burnt him out twice. He must have succeeded because later documents have the family at that location.

I believe that the Johnston’s arrived fairly early in the Plantation period probably from the Annandale area of Scotland.

My GGG Grandmother, Matilda Yarrow, emigrated from Oritor in County Tyrone to Australia in 1842 with her two sisters, Eliza and Margaret. Matilda was approx 16, Eliza 21 and Margaret approx 17. Their parents were Mathew Yarrow and Margaret Nobbs. I have not been able to locate any online record of the parents - other than Mathew appearing in an 1826 Tithe Applotment record.

Hugh Devlin (1808-1870) and Olivia Stinson (1821-1875) were married in Ardboe, Co. Tyrone on 4 Feb 1835. I don't know who their parents were. Their first child, Peter, was baptized 12 Sept 1838, which may be a grandfather's first name. The child didn't survive. In 1839 the couple emigrated to Ste. Catherine's, Ontario, where they had at least 9 other children. I believe Olivia was Protestant and Hugh Catholic.

My maternal grandmother was Catherine Devine: Born March 25, 1889 in Plum Bridge, Omagh, County Tyrone. She came to the USA in 1906 and died May 5, 1965
Her parents were Anna McCormick [McCormack?] born in Ireland in 1861 [est] and died in Ireland in 1927 [est]; Her father was Charles Devine born in Ireland in 1851 [est] and died in Ireland 1923 [est].
I am interested in tracing the family tree earlier [ie, parents of Charles Devine and/or Anna McCormick for starters]. Any insights would be appreciated.
Stan
