THE LOCKHART FAMILY
In 1843 Robert John Lockhart came to Innisfil from Ireland, leaving the county of Tyrone and the village of Dungannon with his family of one girl and ten boys. He chose for a home part of lot 9 in concession 11 of Innisfil Twp [Simcoe Co. Ontario Canada]. This property was later taken over by his son John while the other boys of the ten went to various parts of Ontario and U.S.A.
John Lockhart married Sarah Woods and they had two sons and seven daughters. The two boys, Alexander and John, remained in the township while the girls married and went to various parts. Alexander died in 1919 and William John, who had three sons and one girl, continued to live on the family homestead which had been deeded to the grandfather from the Crown in 1843. On his death the farm was taken over by two of the sons, Clifford and Russell. Clifford is the township reeve during the holding of the Innisfil Centennial [1951]
