LATIMER
North half lot 20 concession 10, [of Innisfil Twp, Simcoe Co. Ontario, Canada] now owned by William Givens, was taken up and cleared in 1840 by the late James Latimer, father of Sam Latimer and grandfather of the late James Latimer. Norma and Bobby Givens are the fifth generation of their kin now living on this farm. Samuel Latimer died August 6th, 1901. His father James came from the County of Tyrone, Ireland. Many times Mr. Latimer recalled the hardships and experiences of the early settlers. They were faithful church families. Sam Latimer bought 100 acres of bush on the 13th concession from Sir John A. MacDonald [First prime minster of Canada]. In those days the farms usually consisted of 50 acres to a family.
