DUNGANNON QUARTER SESSIONS.

These sessions commenced on Tuesday, the 9th inst., before CHARLES GRANBY BURKE, ESQ., acting assistant barrister.

There were 1099 civil bills and 161 ejectments entered. The civil business terminated on Monday, the 15th, and on the following day the grand jury were empannelled, viz.: -

Stealing a watch from the person of HUGH DONNELLY, in Cookstown. Guilty – 6 months’ hard labour

JOSEPH WARD

Stealing money from MRS. BELL of Cookstown, returned to assizes

SALLY HAGAN

Stealing a shawl at Annagher, returned to petty sessions

BETTY McDONNELL and SUSAN DONNELLY

Stealing six geese from JAMES LOCKHART, and four from JAS. BEAVERS, in Knocknaroy, Guilty – 6 weeks each to hard labour

SUSAN CORR

Stealing Indian meal at Coalisland from SUSAN BURNS. Guilty – to be transported for 7 years

ELEANOR WATT, alias COURTNEY

Stealing a quantity of clothes at Tamnamore, from JAMES ASH, and JOHN HAZELTON. Guilty – 1 month’s hard labour

Stealing a shawl from CATHERINE FLOOD, in Omagh. Guilty – one week’s hard labour

MARGARET MILLER

Stealing potatoes at Cookstown, from THOMAS McALISTER. Submitted – 3 weeks’ hard labour

BETTY CAMPBELL

Stealing fifteen geese at Beaghmore, from JOHN LOUGHRAN. Guilty – 8 months to hard labour

Stealing two geese from WILLIAM HUMPHREYS and WILLIAM WINTER. Acquitted

MARGARET McKIGNEY

For having in her possession two stolen turkeys, the property of NEAL McKENNA, near Aughnacloy. Guilty – 6 months‘ imprisonment

JAMES MULDOON

Stealing a quantity of rags from MR. JOHN LOWRY, in Dungannon. Submitted – to be imprisoned 14 days, to be once whipped privately, and after imprisonment to be sent to the workhouse

WM. BROWN

For picking the pockets of R. DEVLIN, in Cookstown market, of £5 in bank notes and £1.18s in silver. Guilty- to be transported for 14 years

PATRICK CAMPBELL

For stealing money in the shop of WILLIAM ORR in Dungannon. Submitted– 6 weeks to hard labour

JOHN COPLETON

For feloniously carrying off a horse, the property of JOHN CASEY, at Donemoney, on the 19 th of November last and for a malicious assault on PETER CASEY. Guilty, to be transported for 7 years

Stealing two turkeys at Aughnacloy. Guilty – 2 months to hard labour

ROBERT NEWELL

Stealing a cart at Glenkeen, the property of MR. MARSHALL. Not guilty

MARY MAGEE

Stealing clothes from MARY McKENNA at Aughnacloy, not guilty

WILLIAM BROWN

Larceny. Acquitted, prosecutor not attending

MARGARET McKEE or McDERMOTT

Stealing bacon in Dungannon, acquitted, prosecutors not attending

JOHN MARTIN

Stealing money from FRANCIS CASSIDY in Clinto Richardson. Returned to petty sessions

JOSEPH JENKINSON

Stealing meal at Donaghmore. – Discharged – bill being ignored

JAMES McCABE

Stealing the keys of the Roman Catholic chapel at Omagh. Not guilty

JOSEPH McCONKEY

Rescuing goods from ARCHIBALD ALLEN, at Cookstown. Submitted, to pay a fine

ANTHONY DILWORTH

Rescuing himself from arrest under a civil bill decree. Not guilty

HUGH GRAY

Stealing a cow at Cookstown, the property of THOMAS ART. Not guilty

THOMAS BURROWES

Stealing clothes from Dungannon workhouse. Submitted, 3 months hard labour

Assault on STUART HAMILTON, bailiff. – Guilty, five months imprisonment and to pay prosecutor £1.15s.

Rescuing goods under seizure. Not guilty

Rescuing goods and assault on P. McELDOON, and SAMUEL JOHNSTON. Not guilty

Assault on JOHN, THOMAS and ROSE MAYNES. Not guilty

ROBERT FRIZELL

Assault on HUGH CAMPBELL at Legilly. Not guilty

TERENCE DUFFIN and JAMES HENRY

Rescue and assault. Not guilty

ANDREW DROLIN

Rescuing himself from DOCTOR KING, the coroner, when arrested under an attachment. Not guilty.

PATRICK WARD

Stealing clothes at Ballymena. Acquitted as a lunatic, to be kept in custody until application be made to the lord lieutenant for his removal

BERNARD, CATHERINE and JUDITH DONAGHY

Assault – Guilty. BERNARD and CATHERINE each one weeks imprisonment, JUDITH being an old woman, got one day’s imprisonment; all to be bound to keep the peace

HUGH MONTGOMERY

Assault. Submitted, fined 6 pence

MICHAEL McGUCKIAN

Assault on water keeper. Submitted, to be imprisoned four months
